The TARA Approach for the Resolution of Shock and Trauma

Climate Change & Consciousness

THEME STATEMENT:

Regenerative Health is your birthright. Our minds and our bodies have been deceived by a patriarchal, colonizing and authoritarian industrialization of healthcare. The Regenerative Health paradigm is a systemic shift in the content and delivery of healthcare. It is trauma informed, somatically oriented, culturally sensitive, and ignites the elasticity and resilience that is innate to the human nervous system.

Embryologist and neuroscientist Dr. Stephanie Mines developed Regenerative Health for a Climate Changing World based on her discoveries about the nervous system and how it unfolds in utero. These discoveries are corroborated by the lineage of energy healing that Dr. Mines received directly from her teacher of more than twenty years, Mary Iino Burmeister. Mary imparted the Art of Compassion (Jin Shin) to Stephanie and Stephanie discovered, and later corroborated, that this art is an emanation of the Extraordinary Meridians or Rivers of Splendor that represent energetic embryology.

The juxtaposition of Western neuroscience alongside the Art of Compassion, which is taught in the TARA Approach for the Resolution of Shock and Trauma, is a model of Regenerative Health. By fusing what we now know about trauma and the body, epigenetics, the Polyvagal System, and embryology, we can collaborate to deliver an evolved healthcare to meet the unprecedented challenges to physical and mental health posed by the severe climate disruption that are accelerating hour by hour, day by day.

The heightened mental health crises of youth, the denigration of our Elders who have been victimized even further by the COVID pandemic, the unending variations on inflammatory conditions, the proliferation of unsuccessful interventions for depression and complex PTSD, the failure of evaluative and diagnostic measures, and, most significantly the dumbing-down of the needy consumers of healthcare, all of this can be countered right now if we wake up and claim our birthright of regeneration. Just as we are re-wilding, reforesting and reclaiming in the natural world, so can, and so must we, regenerate ourselves and honor our birthright of resilience.

The Western medical model, through its negating, minimizing and discrediting of ancient medicine and by infantilizing the general public, particularly when people are sick and vulnerable, created a mechanism for stealing our intelligence and taking over our minds, just as colonizers of the land stole it from the original inhabitants. But 2022 marks the Regenerative Revolution and that prioritizes Regenerative Health.

This is more than a declaration. There is work to be done. Those committed to regenerative health have the task of educating themselves and building a Cultural Library of Regenerative Health Resources. Dr. Mines has built the foundation of this library. She has also created a methodology for a basic approach to Regenerative Health for a Climate Changing World and training Regenerative Health Practitioners. This means taking responsibility at the levels of personal wellbeing, family and community health and advocating for the broad dissemination of healing in community protocols.

If we are to counter the demoralizing effects of the current healthcare system, we must begin at the grassroots level. Dr. Mines has witnessed first-hand the astounding intelligence of trauma survivors, families with neurodiverse children, mothers, grandmothers, veterans and their family members, and all those who have seen through the folly of so-called modern healthcare and identified how broken and harmful it is. Empowering individuals to recalibrate their nervous systems has been her lifelong intention. Now, in our Code Red Anthropocene, is the time to claim our birthright of empowering and regenerative healthcare.

Dr. Mines is a trauma survivor who knows the truth of going beyond trauma to wholeness. She believes that trauma survivors, wounded healers, are our best consultants in developing healing in community.

Resilience is inborn as revealed in embryogenesis: this is the great revelation that embryos teach us once we learn to listen deeply to them and their sensory, somatic language. This wisdom, available to all of us, also shows how we can nurture the brilliance of our children and youth, and the children of the future, by fully comprehending the singular importance of our earliest life cycle, the prenatal period.

On January 18th, 2022 at 8AM, join Dr. Mines and her colleagues Dr. Darcia Narvaez, Dr. Anita Sanchez and Dr. Spring Cheng to explore Regenerative Health for a Climate Changing World. This is health justice. This is your birthright.

Regenerative Health for a Climate Changing World is a program of the Planetary Health Lab of the University of Edinburgh.

Stephanie Mines is a clinical researcher, and the author of five books on the treatment of shock and trauma. Her sixth book, Memoir of An Embryologist: How I Discovered the Secret of Resilience, will be released in 2022 by Inner Traditions/Sacred Planet.
